Bartelso Knights of Columbus Bowling Alley receives AED Machine
Two others installed at North and South Park in Bartelso
Did you know... The only recognized treatment for sudden cardiac arrest is early defibrillation. The heart will not permit adequate circulation even if CPR is performed. Using an AED immediately after a sudden cardiac arrest can increase the chance of survival by more than 90%. Survival rate is reduced by approximately 10% for each minute that defibrillation is delayed.*
Due to the various events and community functions held within the Bartelso Bowling Alley and surrounding area, members of the Bartelso Blaze, Knights of Columbus and Bowling Alley Committee agreed an AED would be a big benefit to the building.
So, in July 2018 the Bartelso Blaze purchased the AED machine and was installed by members of each committee. The machine can be easily located on the north wall of the building and is very user friendly. The machine will "talk" you through step by step instructions so ANYONE can use the device. The machine is capable for adults and children and is maintained by the Knights of Columbus. As we hope the machine will never need to be used, we will rest easy to know that it is available at any moment.

This is the third AED the Blaze has installed in the community. One has also been donated and installed at the North and South Park in Bartelso.
Helmet Safety Check
On Saturday, September 29th the Bartelso Blaze offered free helmet safety checks. Working with the St. Louis Children's Hospital, a helmet check was provided by certified nurses to inspect helmets for correct fit and ensure that it is CPSC approved - at no charge!
Children were able to bring their own helmets to this event, and/or receive an approved, properly fitting new helmet. Parents and kids were taught how to put a helmet on correctly so they can continue this important safety practice at home.
Bartelso Blaze is happy to announce that they passed out 68 new helmets at this event. Also, congratulations to our bike winners: Aisley Schroeder and Mason Falconio
Bartelso Blaze Donates Training Materials
The Blaze was happy to donate a training AED unit and smoke machine to the Fire Department on Monday night at their regular meeting. These items will be a big asset to all their training needs. The money used to purchase these items were possible because of the wonderful support the Blaze received from their Glo Bingo in January. Thank you everyone for your continued support in both these organizations.
